Parents and family members participate in a variety of ways inside and outside of the classroom.
Parents may help inside the classroom with:
- Art, cooking, crafts, gardening and science projects
- Assembling books and materials
- Setting up displays of student work
- Helping with class presentations, plays and readers theatre
- Helping with Reader/Writer workshops
- Providing small group and/or individual support
Parents may help outside of the classroom with:
- Organizing curriculum-related outings (field trips)
- Checking students papers
- Prepping materials for special classroom projects
- Gathering resources for units of study
- Recording audio books for classroom listening centers
- Shopping for classroom supplies
- Word processing or printing materials
